We’re always looking for new book ideas!
If you have an idea for a book, or a series of books, that you think would fit into our list, we’d like to hear about it.
We are committed to publishing books that make teaching and learning enjoyable and rewarding for both teachers and pupils. We focus on producing high-quality, well-designed materials for teachers and others working with children aged 0–11 and with 11–14 year olds with special needs. All our books are very practical and user-friendly. Many, but not all, contain sheets that the teacher can photocopy and hand out to pupils in the class. We don’t try to provide comprehensive coverage of all areas of the curriculum. Instead we look for niches where we feel we can publish books that will make a difference to pupils’ and teachers’ lives.
In addition to publishing books for teachers, we also publish reading books to support and encourage reluctant readers – children aged 7–11 who have already grasped the basics of reading, but are reluctant to practise their reading and so get better. We aren’t interested in publishing children’s picture books.
Competition
Find and review books similar to yours. You can find books in the library, in a book called Books In Print and in retail bookstores (both on the High Street and on-line). Familiarize yourself with the books on your topic and then tell us how your book is different.
Market
Is there a need for another book on your topic? What makes your book unique? Is this a book that teachers will want to use every day?
Other Important Issues
Who has reviewed or tested your book? Have you led classes or workshops on the topic? What is your background? Have you published other books, articles, or other materials? If so, please tell us. How will you be able to promote your book? Can you conduct workshops at professional meetings, or do demonstrations at bookstores? Include this information in your letter of inquiry, outlined below.
We prefer to receive a letter of inquiry and/or a proposal, rather than the entire manuscript. That means you don’t have to wait until you’ve completed your book to send it to us. Your proposal should include:
In addition, please describe the book, including:
